it feels like something is slightly pressing on my "funny bone" and the base of my tricep is aching... is this normal for someone who's pb on a hot sunny day last september is 52.80m and was throwing last night at about 8pm after a tiring day at work and only 2 weeks back into throwing after a series of injuries who threw 50.27m off a 3/4 run Ahem... i think my target of 55m is a dead cert this year

55m after a lay off, a winters worth of pie's and ale ! get some ***** Sam if your bunging 50 of 3/4 at this point go for 60m ..... and just to push you a little further if you added a 'mere' 10m95cm to your pb you would knock andy quixley off the bottom of the UK all timers list ! set your sights high..... please note 'mere' may have a bit harsh and 63m75cm a little too confident especially as ive never thrown in a competition and cant break 35m in practice ! ;D .... still if its mindless stats and technique links you want im your man good luck this season.... sorry cant help on the elbow front .. aint got a clue mate

I bet you was throwing like a mad man as you aint thrown for two weeks....It dont help if you were but also throwing in these cold nights you need to warm up for twice as long. I had little niggles in my arm a few years back....the only way i found to stop them was by doing lots of single arm ball throws before i touched a jav, it worked for me but depends on how serious yours is i guess.

Ive started messing about with the nerf vortex ball for a good 10mins before i move to javelins, has stopped the little niggles i was having at the start of throwing

Any suggestions as to a good place to buy one of these balls? I bought a cheaper version in a sports shop for a fiver but it fell to pieces under the impact in the end. Anywhere online?

Neurff balls used to be available in "Toys R Us".
I found a great bean bag version with a little more weight in a pound shop which is great. I used to also find a softball useful. Its like a large baseball for warming up. Davies Sport also sell the vortex and a cheaper foam trainer (www.daviessport.co.uk)

I get the same feeling when I start throwing in the year. It is just not enough warming up and too much throwing too early.
I always take a couple of Ibuprofen 200mg and ice the elbow. (Not that I'm advising to take pain killers for every little pain) they just work for me. But the ice will ease the pain and help in the swelling.
