Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could help recommending a club in SW London with a good javelin coach. Ive been out of it for over 10yrs now. So Im basically looking to get into a good conditioning programme to compete next year. Thanks.

I saw in AW this week Les Hatton is struggling with UKA and his coaching license. I really sympathise it took them ages to sort mine out too. Has he managed to get sorted now?

Thanks bigc, that would be great. I had a morning with Peter Yates last week and it made me realise how much I have forgotten, and that I need to loosen my arm up. But its good to know Ive still got a bit of speed in it.

you never ever lose it! a famous quote goes something like - "good javelin throwers are born and not made"

sorry! but i feel that it's true........ a few people have said that you have to be able to jump a long way and have the ability to run fast, but these on their own just aren't enough - if it was then loads of decathletes would kick ass at jav and they just don't! ;D of course i know what people are saying when they say "you have to be able to jump a long way and have the ability to run fast" as they mean it shows that you have the athletic ability to be a very good javelin thrower - all the best javelin throwers have these, BUT and it's a big "but" they have that natural ability to throw things far, a very special ability - one that is born with them, if you don't have it you never will [i'm not saying you can't train to become better, as you can] ....but those that do have it stick out like a sore thumb, as the real talents out there are very rare.
