Has anyone read the interview with Keith Connor on the bbc site? news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/athletics/4155410.stmAccording to Connor as soon as an athlete reaches a certain standard they should be shipped off to a "better" coach who has experience of coaching top athletes!! Where will the next generation of top coaches come from if all the top athletes are coached by "elite" coaches? Where are all these elite coaches going to come from and how will they be able to service the entire country? Sam you're coaching an athlete with enormous potential are you ready to hand Bonne over to another coach because you've not coached a top athlete before? Removing top athletes from their existing coaches is not the answer! The coach and athlete should be trained together so they can form a better partnership and succeed together. I fear a radical reform is on the way and it will be the clubs and volunteers who give their time for the love of the sport who will suffer.
