Just wondering if anyone knows if the nordic champion jav only comes in 100m or is there an 80m or 90m rated version available?
Also has anyone had a spear shipped across from the States? If so how long did it take and how much did it cost?
Cheers Smiler

Why get your spear shipped from the USA - you will only have to pay a large import tax on it and probably save no money in the process.
Champs only come in one distance rating but it is a versatile jav for most abilities.

i know this post is very very late, but if you haven't found a jav you like yet here's a few suggestions..... like mr. medi ball [aka tom dobing] said the champion is a great jav, ignore the distance rating aspect of most top end spears they are all very similar [ i had a 70m ote and a 90m ote and the centre of gravity was the same for both! ] the orbit is a very nice javelin and would always choose that ahead of the champion, if you are desperate for a lesser distance rating spear try the super elite 90m, never tried the 80m so can't comment on that. moving away from nordic and perhaps the next popular make are the nemeth spears lot's of the big guys go for these i might be wrong but i'm sure they don't go for the 95m but opt for the 85m or the 90m versions, be warned if you try someones nemeth and like it. The one you buy might differ to his even though you think you have just bought the same one!!! it's odd they feel different despite claiming to be the same, this however is never the case with the nordics which are a very reliable make. lastly to in my opinion are the best!!!! the OTE spears particulary the 90m tailwind the red and silver, does anyone know if they are still available??? these spears are just awesome, consider jan zelezny used one for his 98.48m and nearly all his 90m efforts so they can't be bad and when he signed mine all he said was "very stable javelin!" in a broken english accent! lastly about carbon spears be careful as they are not forgiving and in my opinion if you aren't "on one" nailing it through the point your best sticking to one of the normal spears, i'm sure i saw somewhere that you can get carbons now that are of differing flexs which sounds like a good idea as you could get the best of both worlds and really find a spear that suits you. any way chris saw your photo in the photos section, not a bad pic mate!!! you can't be throwing though, it must be posed as your not all red faced swearing 'cos you nobbed 'another one' up!!! all the baest mate

quick note for people reading the above post (i know this doesnt apply in this case slinger, just noting for some more novice throwers who may read the post)... yes the ote 70 & 90 may have the same c.o.g. but the dif in rating prob reflected the stiffness of the shaft. its always worth remembering that if your not a great thrower ... like me ( ... dont bother spending lots of money on anything rated over 70m until your throwing at least 55m. if your missing the point when you throw and your using a 70m or less jav then the jav will bend to soak up the energy... if your using a 100m jav it wont bend,... the energy will go into your elbow and it will eventually fall apart !!!!!!! i know on the us forum petranoff gorski and co all repeatedly post to young throwers to keep the use the high rated javs in training down to a minimumeven if they are good throwers due to the extra pressure it puts on the joints

no worries slinger.... i would be more worried if you did know who i was ;D ... dont think stories of my mid 40m's javelin expertise and peak physical condtion have spread that far yet, but its surely just a matter of time... but i did finish 5th in my national champs... and i would like to take this oportunity to thank all of you slack sods that didnt turn up to the scots for making that happen !... in it 2 win it etc etc!!!!
second season of jav for me slinger. im approaching the darker side of 28 this week but hope i'll get better with age and throw over 50m for wakefield next season.

Cheers for the late reply phil.
I am gonna hold off getting a new one for the moment as i regripped my nemeth classic 80 with a big fat polanik grip and it feels much better now for my big sausage fingers!!
I have thrown a pb the last three years in a row with a champion as i reckon the grip felt a little better in my hand than my nemeth until i changed it.
My only problem with my nemeth is that it weighs 821 grams !!!
Its only half a mars bar heavy but it must still make a difference.
Hope to see you back next year phil chris

chris you aren't the only one with a heavy nemeth - parker had one which was TOO heavy for a comp!!!!!!! i'm sure that if you tell people on here where you got your spear re-gripped they'd appreciate that, as a few people have ben asking! - surely it's not too hard, just 'borrow' the binding off some club jav - sorted!!!!!! as for throwing i doubt very much though i am trying to sort my doctor out to look 'properly' at my back!! coaching my young nephew is my calling now, but i'd like to possibly come down on a border trip to london - if work permits!!! as usually it's a proper laugh!!! especially if my big mate neil elliott is around - no-one starts any trouble when that fella around - fact! good to here from you chris anyway, get your ass on here more!!!!!! "ah.............piiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssh!!!!!!"
