Just a quick discussion point. Did any one see this program on Channel 4 last night (Thursday)?
What are your thought on the subject? I'm interested to see what other peoples are on the program and the topic. Do you think it was a bad move to use an athletics as the focus?
Let me know what you think

i saw most of it. the problem i see is that with training generally we can all make huge gains in events. the people that are taking the drugs fo real are experienced athletes that have been doing their sport for years. it's only then that the drugs become visible in sudden massive improvements.
I don't think that the test was very good in that respect. i was coaching a shot putter earlier this year she was new to it and in just over a month she went from 4m to 6m thats a 50% increase...does that mean that she is on steroids?

Quite an interesting programme, just missed the end! The gains that were made where mostly from the training i would say, becasue they were just volunteers (for legal reasons) there all naturally gonna be better at different events....it would have been more interesting if it was a group of athletes from the same event, already trained up then given drugs!
Also thought it was a bit of an advertisement for the best drug from what they chose to use.

UK Sport have public shown there disaproval of the program through a press release and their website. Regarding scientific protocol the first events where done on grass. In the final they were on a synthetic track and in a different order. Add training, rest and diet no wonder they performed better.
What I find interesting is not a peep from the athletics world regarding this especially as it was a UKA coach (and tutor) involved. I'm not saying that this coach should be shot for the program (although I'm sure some would like to that!) but perhaps there should been a similar statement like the UK Sport one stating the flaws in the program and that UKA have an anti-drugs stance.
