there has been much discussion on the forum already about the way people would like to see the Festivals develop.
some of you have spoken about week long events and some of weekend events.
so how do we want it
the current structure is a day of javelin only competition where all abilities and all ages get 6 throws. no distractions from ANY OTHER EVENT (unlike UKA who have other throws distractions...)
Bar facilites.. indoor facilites for warming up.. and the chance to socialise in the evening.
does this need to change?
Does the current system no-longer fulfil the needs of the customer (you)?
Do we need to go on for two days with competitions on day one and training sessions on day 2?
Lets hear it

Whilst indoor facilities are nice, I wouldn't say they were essential. Bar facilities, however.......
In an ideal world, and for those that want to, it would be good to video the throws and critique them afterwards.

wouldnt it be better to have coaching sessions before the comps? As far as bar faciities go, you also need food!
I feel that if you want to attract lots of people you unfortunately have to appeal to their mercenary feelings.... lets see how much we can get given from sponsors and pay the winners! We did have some great raffle prizes last time, but we really need tons more appeal to get as many people in as possible... and not just javelin throwers, lets try to appeal to the general public too - who knows, it should raise more money at worst and at best we may make some more converts!!
Maybe we look and see what happens at the UKA Throwsfest - lets see what works, what is annoying, and what fails dismally - they pinched our idea so.............. you get the general idea!

Cud we have limited ppl in each comp?? say upto 15. Just last time when I threw Had to wait a very long time between throws which wasn't good because I wasn't happy bunny at the time! but ye, mayb limit the competitors.
And also can we have an accuracy contest with crappy javelins? I been practising piecred my shoe yesturday from 25m YES M8!
N personnaly I would not be up for a training session.... mass training session I find there are too many different points of veiw on things and not enough time 2 delve specificaly enough into everyones technique.

Limit the people and you could become "elitist", surely one of the things the javelin club is trying to avoid. You could have comps according to ability, then you just have to sort out the logistics of making sure people know approximately what time their competition is.

i think what you have to try to avoid is people coming just for their comp.... we need other attractions (steady, boys..) to make people stay, enjoy the other comps, coaching, whatever else is available to see.

Meant limit the number of people throwing at the same time, not the entrants...

I jus thought up some weird typa comp just wana see what you think....
Tis called Jav Club Knock Out
People are seeded on their pbs and the lowest seeds throw first. If you do not throw further than the previous person then you are knocked out, and if the person after you throws less than you then you gain a life.
Good lil comp to make a pb maybe cause it's all down to one throw instantly.... Think it would just be interesting to see a comp like this maybe??
