Guys, anybody know where I could pick up a set of used Olympic weights or of any websites that I should look up for same...
Im not in a huge hurry to get them but would like to try get hold of a set before christmas at the lattest. I have checked ebay etc but ideally id like the rubber encased disc's and that all the different weights sizes be the same size in diameter - apart from the 5kg, 2.5kd etc obviously.. They are an expensive piece of kit to buy new so any help would be much appreciated
kind regards

An offer for you...I have a set and I am not actually advertising them, but seeing your post I will sell if you are willing to travel to pick up.
20kg chrome Bar is good condition and not bent, it has always been stored away after use and never with weights attached on a rack etc
Weights wise I have more, but can only sell 2 red rubber cased 25kg discs and 2 rubber cased 20kg discs, with matching 2.5kg collars.
The discs and collars are pretty much brand spanking new, about 2 years old and never been used - I never got strong enough to use them if I'm being honest. The bar is in good condition, infact it could be labelled better than that tbh.
yours for 100 quid - a big saving over buying new from a shop.
....all depends if if you are willing to travel to Nether Kellet, North Lancashire, which is actually my parents house.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know where I can get "Pallini" training discs for a fraction less than an arm-and-a-leg ? I've started S&C work with a group of 400m runners ('cos I don't have any javelin throwers at the moment) and these are excellent for getting them underway; just outrageously priced for a lump of plastic !

Hi Pembrokian,
My advice would be to make some. I presume you are talking about discs that weight 5kg or so - given that its such a light weight and therefore at a weight that people don't need to be throwing around, its incredibly cheap to make some wooden discs to do the same job. Of course you need the know how yourself or someone that can help you but it would do the job at the fraction of the price.
I was also looking at buying Olympic weights recently for my garage and its just not possible to find anything that I think is reasonable. Luckily I've managed to pick up a cheap bar from Powerhouse and some car wheels to form the basis and then add weights on top of that.

Thanks for the tip.

The price of top quality OL gear is ridiculous - Ivanko discs a few hundred quid each the last I looked, bar a grand.....don't even ask about elieko comp stuff - you'd have to re-mortgage your house.
I've still had no word off dkpn, so the offer to them can't stand forever with others waiting on it, so it will stand for another week. Sound fair Dave, lusis?

That's totally fine dkpn.
I wish I had another spare bar and equipment for you guys, as buying brand new is very expensive, but I can't really let my other older bar go even though the equipment isn't being used at the moment, as you never know when I might need it again you see!
