Sarah-Anne's previous best this year was 38.44m, so that's a BIG pb and a massive 10m improvement on her 2005 best of 34.38m. She's also a first year U17!

Yesterday had a mens meeting...
Hammer... 35m??? Shot... 13m0? Jav... couple of 65m and a couple 66m's Discus... 34m???
So an average day..........
Today I woke up and was i two mind to do the Eastern Champs. Didn't feel like it tbh and felt tired and didn't have much energy. Looked out side when I got up and the weather wasn't too bad.
I did the comp anyway and warm up wasn't too bad.. a couple 66m again and thought... just another like yesterday.
My series was like,
71m17 good looking start 65m83 oh no... here we go again 67m35 felt very good, but missed the run up and timing of the throw 72m27 now thats better 70m64 keep it going 70m73 nice one to finish
I was the only one in the competition so I was pleased I competed against myself... normally I'm not that strong and need that external competition.
So I'm looking forward to next weekend

Shame the inter-girls winner beat the senior girls distance. Must confess young Sarah-Anne certainly has the making of a fine jav prospect (must be in her Genes!!)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Mack's 72 was a pb?? Does it count as it was a one man exhibition??
Anyway, looks like things are hotting up a bit in the early 70s. Good stuff.

Hi Aaron,
Firstly, well done Mack.
You sometimes hear of exhibition events (usually pole vault) where performances can't count for record purposes, and I was just wondering if a similar rule applied to comps where there was only one competitor. I'm also not sure if perfromances in mixed competitions can count for ranking / record purposes.

Not sure about the "the only one there" bit, but ... .... ???dumb arse I am can't rememebr where I was going with this... Ohhh yeh... wasn't the javfest mixed and those distances counted for rankings... I think.

does it matter that the only reason it was mixed was because there was only two girls throwing so they decided to save time by putting everyone together?

nah, reckon it doesn't matter, so it's cool and all good.

The mixed competition rule is:
107:8 Mixed Competition and Graded Events (i) For competitions held entirely within the stadium mixed events between male and female athletes shall not be permitter except as is provided by (ii) below. (ii) The organisers of a graded competition may allow competitors in younger age groups to compete in higher age groups provided that the conditions do not contravene any rules regarding distances or events which may be contested. Mixed graded competitions may also be allowed.[/i]
The rule for records is 141 Records (16)No performance will be accepted in an individual event unless it has been accomplished during an official competition with a minimum of three competitors taking part.....[/i]
PBs count and I would think that performances would count for ranking purposes (although NUTS may have their own criteria).

Well I guess girls can play with boys in the same comp after all.
The distance was only my PB and the track record, so the National record is safe.
Hopefully there will be more than 3 in Manchester on Sunday. (Not that I could get any other records)

There's probably another heap of rules about criteria for standards for selection to stuff. Rules, rules, rules..
