I broked my knee in Potchefstroom, South africa 2 weeks ago. I was doing jumps and slippered. Knee went overflexed and snapped. It operated last thursday. Menisc tear was quite big and it was repaired and nothing was removed. I'm not able to walk yet and knee is sore like "#"¤%!. Does anyone has experiences of repaired menisc tear? How long it will take to full recover?

maybe lasher can help, he's had knee problems.
hope you enjoyed SA though, did you go to coyote's or bourbon street???
last time i was in coyote's i was buying jugs of water to pour over the lovely ladies for a wet t shirt comp - 50 rands [about a fiver] a jug, which to the locals is a lot of dough and they looked horrified when i kept buying jug after jug ;D
class nights, only time i've ever been in a car with a very drunk person driving.

Petsku hasn't actually broken his knee he just mean't he injured it. The Meniscus tear is the problem. Don't know many bad knee people out there, but perhaps James Everard does Anyway we all wish you a swift recovery Petteri and hope to see you finally make that 80m mark sometime soon. PS checkout my pic- thats me throwing my pb in 05'

terseus is a great bloke and his house is amazing, petsku how good is his javelin shrine??? the guy is a complete javelin nut and has an incredible knowledge of the event he has this "shrine" which is basically a room dedicated to javelin throwing with all sorts of stuff in there - the walls are full of posters, there's javelins hung up if i can remember, a zelezny javelin boot! - man, there's all sorts that i can't remember, oh yeah one of the walls in the room has been signed by loads of athletes that have visited potchefstroom over the years - including myself! ;D very honored to be asked actually, as i must have the worst PB of everyone on it ;D yeah understand about the nights out, still hope you had time for a couple of nice cold "castles" which hotel did you stop at petsku??? i really hope the recovery goes to plan and the knee comes back even stronger than before, really do wish you the best of luck.

Yeah Terseus' shrine really is something. We have a javelin Museum in Finland, but I think that Terseus' living room is much more impressive.
We was staying in new small guest house next to the track. Yep, and i had about 20 cold castles during our stay. ;D

How long it will take to full recover? Depends on the severity of the tear, how successful your op was and how effective your rehab will be - anything from 6 - 18 months. If you had surgery, and you state it was a large tear you could be looking at close to 12 months.

Terseus' team's best throwers who trained there was Tommie du Toit, Brian Erasmus, Justin Robbeson and Sunette Viljoen. There was also your Goldie Sawyers with her coach Mark Roberson. (I have actually had same coach with Mark in 90's, Don Welsh. Brittish-borned fellow who lives in finland nowadays Other international Javelin throwers I didn't saw in Potch. (Tero Pitkamaki and Tero Jarvenpaa were training in Pretoria). Roman Seberle was training also in Potch as well as Eunice Barber. And lot's of runners...

Just got a text from Petteri, an infection has developed in his knee post-op and he's in an emergency procedure right now. This could be potentially disastorous for his recovery. So heres wishing you all the best mate, fingers and everything crossed.

Blimey - best wishes to Petsku. How unfortunate to get an infection, I think there is only a 1/1000 chance of that happening. Lets hope it clears up and doesn't have too much impact on the recovery and rehab.

The cleanup op went ok and Petteri should be back home and resting by now, although i wonder if there are any long term effects from taking the kind of doses of antibiotics they were pumping into him. I Hope things work out for you at last.

I injured my meniscus and had it operated on (the same time as Gazza in 1991 in the princess grace hosp in london). I threw at the world student games in sheffield about 5 weeks later. Footballers come back from scuh injuries ion 2-3 weeks depending on rehab before and after, apparently. 65% of my lateral meniscus of the right leg was removed and a cyst drained.
